Chandigarh, December 16

Members of the All-India Bank Officers Confederation carried out a candlelight march at Sector 17 plaza here this evening. The march was taken out to protest against the delay in wage revision.

The confederation, in past one month, observed complete shutdown of all 360 branches of the 27 public sector banks in the city on two occasions demanding the wage revisions.

“We are demanding a wage revision. Despite working hard, we have been awaiting a revision for the past many years,” said Rajinder Wali, vice-president, All-India Bank Officers’ Confederation.

The issue was raised nationally two months ago, seeing bankers across the country suspending work on November 12 and on December 3.
