THE VICTORY of the Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Jagraon constituency (reserved) Saravjit Kaur Manuke after defeating former Congress minister Malkiat Singh Dakha and SAD candidate Amarjit Kaur Sahoke has surprised many. She got 61, 521 votes - defeating her rival Malkiat Singh Dakha (Congress) with a whopping margin of 25,576 votes. Born in Manuke village near Jagraon, a postgraduate in commerce and economics, 44-year-old Saravjit Kaur Manuke was motivated to join politics during the India against Corruption Movement by social activist Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal. — Jaswant Shetra
