Godown gutted in Baddi

A fire broke out at the godown of a packaging unit, Universal Printo Pack, at Kishenpura village in Baddi last evening.

Four fire tenders were requisitioned from Baddi and Nalagarh and it took firemen four hours to control the blaze. No loss of life was, however, reported. Since the godown housed inflammable material like 40 paper rolls and other such raw material, the fire spread within no time and burnt goods worth lakhs. The unit staff initially tried to control the fire with the help of in-house fire extinguishers, but their effort went in vain.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Scores of fire incidents have taken place in various industrial areas of the state. Despite the units having their own fire-fighting equipment, they fail to prove helpful in such eventualities.
