AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday blamed the SAD-BJP government for all the ills plaguing the state.

Addressing a rally here, the Delhi Chief Minister claimed that drugs were available in every third household in this border district. He said the state had “plummeted to new depths of despair on the economic, industrial and agrarian fronts just because of the wrong policies of the ruling family”.

He was accompanied by state chief Gurpreet Singh Waraich and senior leader HS Phoolka.

Kejriwal was addressing a rally in favour of party candidate from Qadian, Kamalpreet Singh Kakki. Earlier, he presided over a gathering at Kalanaur in favour of GS Khushalpur, the party candidate from Dera Baba Nanak.

Kahnuwan forms a part of the Qadian constituency, considered to be a stronghold of the Partap Singh Bajwa family. Partap’s wife Charanjit Bajwa is the sitting MLA while his younger brother Fateh Jang Bajwa is contesting the polls this time.

The AAP think-tank had turned it into a show of strength in order to unnerve the party’s opponents.

While the AAP team claimed that there was an impressive crowd put together by Kakki, the party’s detractors claimed that a majority of the people had come from the adjoining assembly seats of Batala, Fatehgarh Churrian, Dera Baba Nanak, Sri Hargobindpur, Dinanagar and Gurdaspur.

Party candidates from these seats said they had been asked to bring a sizeable number of people with them to the event. “We had been told to hire the maximum number of vehicles to bring in people from our respective areas,” said a candidate.
