K’shetra MP: Jat officials muzzling anti-quota voices

Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini today accused Jat officials of selectively targeting his aides.

“Former Chhachhrauli legislator Roshan Lal Arya has been implicated for airing his views against Jat reservation,” he told the media here today. He has been arrested in connection with the cash-for-CLU scam.

“Jat leaders Yashpal Malik, Hawa Singh Sangwan and Dharampal Chhoth are facing charges of sedition, damage to public property and unlawfully disrupting trains in Hisar, but they have not been arrested,” Saini said.

“There are 75 cases against Jat leaders in Hisar district since 2010. The police claim these individuals are not traceable, but they are present in press conferences and public meetings. Law is being bent to benefit Jats, as the community has a considerable share in the bureaucracy,” the MP said, adding he would raise the matter with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday.

Arya is accused of delivering hate speeches against Jats. He is embroiled in several cases.

He is reportedly charged with taking Rs30 lakh in bribe in lieu of assuring a Delhi man of getting a CLU certificate during the previous Congress government in 2013. Saini said Arya had applied for an anticipatory bail in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in connection with cases of alleged hate speech.

“During the hearing, there was no reference to the CLU case registered by the Yamunanagar police. It was done to harass Arya who is against Jat reservation. There is no evidence to suggest that Arya was ever questioned in the alleged case. He has been arrested in an unfair manner,” Saini said.
