KHARAR: The Kharar Municipal Council today passed its Rs 61-crore budget for the next financial year 2017-18.

Kharar, March 27

The Kharar Municipal Council today passed its Rs 61-crore budget for the next financial year 2017-18. A resolution to this effect was adopted at a special meeting of the civic body chaired by its president Anju Chander here.

MC executive officer Kulbhushan Goyal said the budget estimates were Rs 6 crore which was more than the budget of current financial year. The revised budget of current financial year was Rs 55 crore. He said during the next financial year, the civic body expects to earn Rs 22 crore from the sale of properties, Rs 2.5 crore from property tax, Rs 8.36 crore from VAT on liquor, Rs 3.50 crore from water supply and sewerage cess and Rs 20 crore from building application fee.

He said the MC plans to spend Rs 35 crore on various developments works and Rs 12.34 crore on electricity bills of streetlights and water supply. — OC
