Lakhvir Singh Lakha from the Congress won the Payal constituency with a margin of 21, 496 votes. He was polled 57,776 votes, while Gurpreet Singh Lapran from the Aam Aadmi Party got 36,280 votes. This time, the sitting MLA and senior SAD leader Charanjit Singh Atwal had decided not to contest the elections from the seat.
