Una, December 15
State BJP President and Una Member of Legislative Assembly Satpal Singh Satti said the state Congress government had cheated the youth during the run-up to the Assembly elections by promising unemployment allowance.
Addressing a meeting of the district Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha at the Bharatiya Janata Party office here today, he said after coming to power the unemployment allowance was replaced by the skill development allowance scheme in which no transparency was being maintained.
Satti said the entire scheme smelt of irregularities and several innocent youth were cheated by so-called training centres, which were either ill-equipped or their certificates were not valid.
He said even some Congress legislators were in favour of reviewing the skill development allowance scheme.
Satti said the youth would play a leading role during the next Assembly elections, adding that more and more youth were joining the BJP during the party’s ongoing membership drive.
He said teachers, employed on contractual basis and through the Parents Teachers Association, were not being regularised despite completing stipulated years in service.
Satti said the group of ministers, who were members of the resource mobilisation committee, had also not given any concrete recommendations on promoting self-employment in the state.
Vice-president of the district Yuva Morcha Vikram Thakur, general secretary Lakhbir Singh and media cell in charge Raj Kumar Pathania were also present.
