Statement chairs are trending in home space in a big way. Bold and beautiful,  functional and fashionable, these furniture pieces add a touch of luxury and glamour to any interior space besides adding fluidity and grace to the overall look of a room. These chairs can visually balance a large sofa or sectional, luxury rooms feel more intimate. Their generous proportions also provide comfortable seating. Statement chairs come in different forms and styles. So, you can take a pick from a classic armchair, wingback, slipper, barrel, club, chesterfield and many other styles. These chairs are comfortable and are perfect for entertaining guests or adding a new dimension to a large wall. But besides the styles and size, there is a lot that goes into choosing the right chair for your living room. Here’s how you can incorporate one into your home:

Shape & placement

When selecting  a statement chair, look for a figure that stands out against other pieces in the room. The shape of the chair plays an essential role — a modern chair in a traditional space can really pop, and vice versa. A strategically placed statement chair can make all the difference. Appearance of the room looks monotonous if all of your chairs are the same. Place a funky chair  in the corner of the room to add instant personality.

Discover balance

Statement chairs come in all shapes, sizes, and finishes. If someone wants to go bold, they like to use an over-scaled geometric fabric on a small chair. In case you have a large or unusually shaped chair, a small print or subtler fabric is perfect combination.

Complement design and colour. Everyone wants a room where the colours match and the different furniture pieces work well together to strengthen the interior look. In case of statement chairs you can muster up drama in your decor by using complementing styles and colours.

Frame and form

It is important to pay extra attention to the frame construction while selecting your chair. These chairs that can hold up to years of daily use, so prefer pieces that feature kiln-dried hardwood frames. Plywood and particle board frames, however, are a more economical choice.

Compare support

The amount of support provided by statement chairs is an important factor, especially if two people will sit in the chair at once. Eight-way, hand-tied seats are appropriate and look alive, while seats with sinuous springs are slightly softer. Webbing suspension keeps the cost of seats low and gives chairs less support.

Right upholstery

Cotton statement chairs can hold up to heavy use and have a pleasant texture to provide comfort.

Leather and faux leather ones are elegant and easy to clean, while the ones upholstered in polyester and mixed polyester are great options for places that are exposed to direct sunlight. Upholstered arm chairs are an excellent way to contrast a room’s primary colour pattern.

Filling matters

One final consideration when considering statement chairs is the filling. If you are looking for softness, find chairs that are filled with goose feathers. Thick foam filing is commonly used in these chairs due to its durability and comfortable support. Wool or cotton batting gives perfect-looking chairs.

Pair it up

Opt for statements chairs that look great in pairs and are good for balancing out space.
