Former minister and senior Congress leader Malti Thapar has approached the National Commission for Women (NCW) over the alleged sexual remarks passed against her by another party leader Darshan Brar and his son Kamaljit Brar.

She has also reached New Delhi, where she is slated to meet AICC president Sonia Gandhi in this regard. The Brars have been booked by the Moga police under Sections 354-A, 509 and 34 of the IPC on a complaint filed by Thapar. They had allegedly abused her during a Congress protest in Moga on December 19 after she addressed Darshan Brar as the former district president of the party. “I am in New Delhi and will meet our party president Sonia Gandhi after the Parliament session is over. I am forced to take the step as I was insulted beyond tolerance,” said Thapar while talking to The Tribune over the phone.

Meanwhile, though PPCC president Capt Amarinder Singh has asked the unit’s senior vice-president to conduct a probe and submit his report within a week, but Lal Singh won’t be able to accomplish the job within the stipulated time frame due to the marriage of his grandson.
