Chandigarh, December 15

As Nek Chand, the creator of Rock Garden, turned 90 today, bringing concerns of “who takes forward his legacy to maintain the 42 year old garden”, his son Anuj Saini shared his preparedness to take the responsibility.
Speaking to Chandigarh Tribune, Anuj (47), a businessman, shared when he realised that it was important to preserve the existing set up of Rock Garden.
“During my visit to Rock Garden a few months ago, I saw one of the statues in Phase I (central point with a small hut from where Nek Chand started building the garden) badly broken. My father had designed that statue with his own hands. I was shattered to see the state of maintenance,” said Anuj.
“I don’t blame the administration alone for it. I decided to take this responsibility now,” he added.
