Rural areas to have concrete streets : Sukhbir

MUKTSAR: Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said today that all state villages would have concrete streets in five years.

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said today that all state villages would have concrete streets in five years.

 

He visited Sham Khera village in the Lambi Assembly segment today, where concrete streets have been were laid at a cost of Rs 1.66 crore. Besides, the village has 100 per cent drinking water facilities.

 

Sukhbir said, “After making Punjab a power surplus state, it will be the second biggest project of the SAD-BJP government .”

 

The concrete floor project will be kicked off in 35 more villages in the Lambi segment. The project will be initiated by the Rural Development and Panchayat Department.

 

Apart from the village streets, periphery roads would also get CC flooring, said Sukhbir.

 

The Deputy CM asked the Rural Development and Panchayat Department officials to come up with a detailed proposal in a month and explore the possibilities of engaging village panchayats in the project.

 

The state government would sign an MoU with cement manufacturing companies in this regard, added the Deputy CM.
