From Punjab, apart from Navdeep, Nikita Goyal secured eighth rank while Tanisha Bansal stood 10th.

From Haryana, Kanish Tayal got seventh rank while Aditi Goyal ranked 22.

“I was expecting good rank but not that I would top the entrance exam,” Navdeep said.

He now wants to get admission in MBBS in Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi.

Before leaving for Chandigarh with his father Gopal Singh, Navdeep said that he has only two passions — studies and cricket.

Navdeep’s father is principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Charewan village near here.

“Since I am a teacher of Physics, my son too developed interest in the subject,” said Gopal Singh.

Navdeep’s mother Simarjeet Kaur is working with the Life Insurance Corporation of India.

Navdeep did his Class 12 from Shivalik Public Senior Secondary School in Mukstar with 88 per cent marks.

He got coaching for NEET from Helix Institute, Chandigarh.

Navdeep has a younger brother, who is student of Class 10.
