Munsiyari town remained cut off for over 24 hours and over 12 villages in Banbasa town reported waterlogging after about 30 mm of rain lashed the Kumaon region in the past 24 hours. Sources at the District Disaster Management Office said Munsiyari received 88 mm of rain, causing landslides and cutting off the subdivisional headquarters.

“Due to heavy debris, roads to Munisiyari, Bhanskot, Pandraha Pala, Dhamigaon, Kota, Madkot to Bona and Madkot to Josha were blocked,” sources said.

Reports from Dharchula stated that a batch of traders going to take part in the Tibet border trade returned to Tintola as the way ahead was damaged. “We expect the way to open soon,” said SK Pandey, SDM of Dharchula.

Reports from Banbasa town of Champawat district stated that rain raised the water level in the Huddi river. The over-flowing river caused waterlogging in Chandani and Aanandpur Bamanpuri villages, besides Banbasa town.
