Nautiyal wants Doon to be smart city

DEHRADUN: Anoop Nautiyal, who contested the state Assembly election unsuccessfully as an Independent candidate, has urged Chief Minister TS Rawat to take effective steps to get Dehradun included to the list of smart cities.

Dehradun, March 22

Anoop Nautiyal, who contested the state Assembly election unsuccessfully as an Independent candidate, has urged Chief Minister TS Rawat to take effective steps to get Dehradun included to the list of smart cities. Basic infrastructure should be improved, he mentioned in a letter sent to Rawat here today.

Nautiyal expressed concern that the city’s name for the smart city was rejected three times by the Union Government. According to him, the proposal for smart city was not made properly by the state government.

“The state government should review past projects and draft a new project to ensure that Dehradun makes it to the list for smart city project of the Union Government. As many as 60 cities have been included in the smart city project across the country. The BJP-led state government should sanction more funds so that basic infrastructure can be improved in the city,” he added. — TNS
