Now, family to intensify protest

Family members of Sukhmanpreet Singh Talwandi, alias Sippy Sidhu (36), who was found dead in the Sector 27 park on September 27 along with the Middle Finger Protests group (Human Rights Protection Group) have decided to intensify their protests and have intimated the Commissioner of Police of Delhi, BS Bassi, through an e-mail that they would be holding a a protest outside the residence of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on Saturday.

Jippy Sidhu, brother of deceased, said that the Chandigarh Police was now left with 24 hours to arrest the accused, failing which, on December 16, 2015, they would decide to sit in protest before the PM's residence against the Chandigarh police.

On Sunday, December 13, 2015, the family and well-wishers held a protest and took to the streets to participate in a peaceful candlelight vigil at the Sector 17 Plaza to protest against the UT police for not cracking the case. Jippy Sidhu had communicated the family’s as well as the pressure group’s decision to hold a protest outside the PM’s residence in Delhi if the prime accused was not arrested in 72 hours.

Prabhloch Singh of Middle Finger Protests group said the IGP, Chandigarh Police, seemed hell bent on turning Chandigarh into Islamabad by not arresting the accused because the accused’s family was influential. He also wondered if the delay in action/arrest of the accused in the gruesome murder of Sippy Sidhu was due to the fact that the IGP's transfer was pending for a long time now.
