Pro-BJP wave in Uttarakhand, says Haridwar MLA Kaushik

BJP legislator Madan Kaushik today urged people to vote for development and against corruption in the coming Assembly elections in the state.

He was addressing a gathering at Model Colony, Ranipur. He termed the BJP as a development-oriented, visionary party and labeled the Congress as power hungry and corrupt, which had halted development in the state for the past five years.

“There is a pro-BJP wave in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, with people wanting a change in the regimes. The able and development-oriented governance being provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre, which Congress failed to provide in the past 67 years, has made people realise the need of having a BJP government both at the Centre and in the state,” Kaushik said.

He lashed out at Chief Minister Harish Rawat and said the Congress government failed to properly implement quarrying and liquor policies, which prima facie were drafted to benefit the mafia only.

“It cannot be without the state government’s knowledge that despite total prohibition on quarrying on the Ganga riverbed, mass-scale illegal quarrying is still going on in Haridwar. A specific liquor company was given preference so that it rakes in maximum profit, indicating a pro-mafia policy and corrupt working of the Congress government,” the three-time MLA alleged.

He cited mass development works done during his tenure and said it was the love of his constituency’s people that he was voted to power with a record margin. He would try to live up to the expectations of the people if he gets elected for the fourth consecutive Assembly term, Kaushik added.
