Mussoorie, December 4

Urban Development Minister Pritam Panwar laid foundation stones of six developments projects worth Rs 3.15 crore here today.

Among these is the Khatta Pani Road project that residents have been demanding since Independence. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 1.21 crore.

Panwar said he was elated as the long-pending demand of villagers in the region to construct Khatta Pani Road had been fulfilled during his tenure. The road would be constructed from near Butcher Khana to Khatta Pani. The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority will carry out the construction work.

A portion of the road was constructed a few years ago by the Municipal Council, but the work was halted midway due to some reasons. “The construction of this road will make the region a major tourist hub and generate employment opportunities for the local youths,” he said.

Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi thanked Pritam Panwar for acceding to the long-pending demand of people.

The Urban Development Minister also laid foundation stones for the construction of railings, Hawa Ghar and a changing room at the Suva Kholi community centre (estimated cost Rs 24.43 lakh), a hall near the community centre worth Rs 22.06 lakh and Hawa Ghars worth Rs 26 lakh at Bata Gad, Nainbagh and the Mussoorie bus stand.

Besides, several other projects were also launched on the occasion.

Ward member Bina Panwar thanked Panwar. People, especially elderly and patients, would derive benefits with the construction of the Khatta Pani Road, she said.

MDDA Secretary PC Dumka, Executive Officer Anil Sharma, Assistant Engineer Atul Gupta were also present.
