In a twist to the case pertaining to the death of five members of a family at Rally village in Sector 12-A here, another suicide note, believed to have been written by one of the victims, Neeraj, was found at his residence today, sending the police in a tizzy. Earlier, a suicide note written by Neeraj was found on the day of the incident in which he had held his stepmother and brother-in-law responsible for taking the extreme step.

On August 28, five members of a family — Neeraj, his wife Raj Kumari and their three minor daughters — were found dead at their house. While Neeraj was found hanging, his wife was found strangled while his children, including a seven-month-old baby girl, were found smothered. The police had registered a case of murder against Neeraj. It was suspected that Neeraj first killed his wife and daughters and then committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan.

The second suicide note stated that Neeraj was about to lose his vision as he was suffering from glaucoma. “In the second suicide note, he has stated that he was upset as doctors had told him that he would soon lose his vision following which he asked his wife Raj Kumari to remarry, but she did not agree to the idea. He told his wife that he would not be able to live as a visually impaired person and had decided to end his life. It was then that the duo took a decision to die together and end the ‘family’s problems’,” said the SHO of the Sector 5 police station, Inspector Lalit Kumar.

He said, “The signatures in the two suicide notes match with those in bank accounts.”

Both suicide notes have now been sent to the CFSL.

“We were searching for some more evidence today when we found the second suicide note wrapped in clothes. We also found reports of doctors of the victim which state that he was suffering from glaucoma. Neeraj’s employer confirmed that he could not see properly,” said the SHO.

The police said the three daughters were given poison in milk before they went to sleep and then they were smothered.
