Fortyfive-year-old Sajjan Kumar, a sewerman, fell unconscious while cleaning a chamber near Chand Cinema Road.
The incident took place at around 4 am on Wednesday, when he along with other sewermen went to clean a manhole.
As per Zonal Commissioner Kamlesh Bansal, the sewerman went to clean the manhole. He and other sewermen entered the manhole. When Sajjan Kumar did not come out, other sewermen went inside and saw him unconscious. He was pulled out immediately. However, by that time, the victim had inhaled poisonous gases. Later, he was taken to CMCH.
Bansal said the sewerman was critical and all expenses were borne by the MC.
