Skill development centre to come up at Kurukshetra

CHANDIGARH: Haryana will soon get its first National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) centre, where technical education would be imparted to youth through more than 15 short-term courses of duration ranging from four weeks to one year.

Haryana will soon get its first National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) centre, where technical education would be imparted to youth through more than 15 short-term courses of duration ranging from four weeks to one year.

Besides, free technical education would be imparted to students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, at this centre ,to enhance their employability. An official spokesman said the centre would be established by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in the building of Government Polytechnic College at Umri village, Kurukshetra, for three years. A campus of the institute would be established if the project proved successful. The land for the project would be provided by the state government whereas the Central Government would bear its cost.

He said basic skill development courses with a duration of four weeks, six months and one year would be provided at the centre wherein youth would be acquainted with new technology.

There are 35 such centres functioning across the country.
