Debate organised on impact of modern education on society

The Gandhi Memorial College of Education (GMCE) organised an inter-departmental debate on the topic “Impact of modern education on society”.

The Gandhi Memorial College of Education (GMCE) organised an inter-departmental debate on the topic “Impact of modern education on society”.

The debate started with the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by welcome address by Principal, GMCE, Prof GL Koul. In his welcome address, he said the college had already undertaken a series of academic activities and the debate was a part of the same with a view to enhancing academic culture in the college.

Participants in the debate were Darni, Latif, Yasir, Asha, Neelofer, Puja and Garu Devi. some of the participants spoke for the motion and some against the motion.

Prof GL Koul and Dr Arti Durani were the judges in the contest. Most of the participants emphasised on enhancing modern techniques of educational process to achieve the goal of excellence in the educational system.

Some speakers, who spoke against the motion, wanted to eradicate the negative impact of modern education, which has given rise to things like cyber crime, making students more selfish and machine like, adding more crime to the society.

Neelofer scored the first position, whereas Latif came second rank. Yasir and Garu Devi finished third and fourth, respectively.
