Rohtak, March 4

The case of Pooja and Aarti of Thana Khurd village in Sonepat district, who had alleged molestation on board a moving bus in November, has taken a new turn.

The Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) authorities here have conceded that the sisters had sought migration from Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Kharkhauda, to Government College for Women, Rohtak, citing they were slated to get married in Rohtak.

To substantiate their claim, the sisters had also furnished a copy of the invitation card of their joint wedding, which mentioned February 5, 2014, as the date of their marriage, along with their migration application forms.

The invitation card furnished by the girls, a copy of which is with The Tribune, mentions that Pooja and Aarti were getting married to Deepak and Praveen, two brothers of Prem Nagar locality, in Rohtak town.

This information was furnished by the MDU authorities in response to an RTI application filed by Pardeep Malik, the counsel for the boys accused of molestation.

“However, the girls have claimed to be unmarried in documents subsequently furnished for admission to the next class, which shows that they had obtained migration fraudulently. We demand a case of fraud be registered against them,” said Sandeep Rathee, a counsel for the accused.

On the other hand, AS Pawar, the lawyer of the complainant sisters, maintained the matter was not in his knowledge and even if it was true, it had no relevance with the molestation case.
