Mohali, December 13

While the Punjab Government is yet to announce the dates of Municipal Corporation elections, the Congress unit in Mohali has almost finalised its prospective candidates.

Mohali District Congress Committee president Balbir Singh Sidhu, who is also the area MLA, said they have almost finalised the names of party candidates who would contest in the upcoming elections. “We held a meeting today to chalk out a strategy for the coming elections. As most of the party leaders and activists at the local level were present, we also prepared the list of our prospective candidates,” said Sidhu.

The criteria of selection of candidates is his/her popularity among residents of the area. However, he said it was not the final list. “Changes can take place at later stages,” said Sidhu. The local Congress leadership has also decided to hold candle marches in this context.
