Tanya, Ria win gold in State Challenger Rowing Sprints Championship

CHANDIGARH:Rowers Tanya Sangwan finished first while Ria Singh bagged the second spot in the single sculls event (women) of the Chandigarh State Sub-junior and Challenger Sprint Rowing Championship at the Sukhna Lake.

Chandigarh, May 22

Rowers Tanya Sangwan finished first while Ria Singh bagged the second spot in the single sculls event (women) of the Chandigarh State Sub-junior and Challenger Sprint Rowing Championship at the Sukhna Lake. 

Sangwan claimed the gold medal in 2 minutes and 36.334s while Singh clocked 2:41.821s. Manisha grabbed the third position in 2:49.19s.

In the double sculls event, Aakriti Kapila/Garima Nandal finished first (2:32.458s) while Manisha/Ria Singh clocked 2:58.697s to grab the second sopt.

In the single sculls event (girls sub-junior category), Anmol Shergill won the gold medal (2:19.538s) while Sahej Preet Kaur won the silver medal (3:21.098s). In the double sculls, Anmol Shergill/Harnoor Sidhu finished first (2:46.220s) and Muskan/Sahej Preet Kaur finished second in 3:49.677s.

The championship was  conducted in single sculls, double sculls, coxless pair and coxless four events . the top performers are selected to represnet the city in the forthcoming National   Rowing champipnship. 

In the single sculls event (boys sub-junior category), Sukhdev won the gold medal (2:40.740s). In the double sculls event, Varun Antil/Rajat Kumar claimed the gold medal (2:36.327s). In the boys U-13 category, Harfateh Singh Shergill won gold medal (3:10.550s).
