Youth shot dead at marriage function

JHAJJAR: A youth was shot dead over a minor altercation during a marriage function at Preeti Garden banquet hall here last night.

A youth was shot dead over a minor altercation during a marriage function at Preeti Garden banquet hall here last night.

The deceased has been identified as Ravinder of Rankhanda village here.

Sources said the incident took place at around 11 pm when the party was in progress. Some youths, who were allegedly under the influence of liquor, engaged in a verbal duel with Ravinder and his friends over some petty issue. The situation turned violent when someone opened fire on Ravinder from a close range. The killers fled from the spot after the incident.

Ravinder was rushed to the civil hospital from where he was referred to the PGIMS in Rohtak as his condition was critical. He succumbed to his injuries on reaching the PGIMS.

Later, the police reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

On the complaint of Ravinder’s relatives, the police registered a case of murder.

The police said investigation in the case was on and some youths had been rounded up for interrogation.
