KAITHAL: The police have booked 22 persons for allegedly blocking road near Simla village in the Kalayat area on Wednesday.

The police have booked 22 persons for allegedly blocking road near Simla village in the Kalayat area on Wednesday.

They were booked on a complaint lodged by SA Satyavan Sagar who said he was present on the Kainchi Chowk in Kalayat at about 9:30 am when he got information that BKU activists and farmers had resorted to road blockade near Simla village. He informed the Kalayat police station. A police team reached the spot and asked the protesters to lift the blockade. They did not budge and ultimately lifted the blockade after about an hour.

During the blockade many vehicles remained stranded. The farmers were to demanding remunerative price for their crops and implementation of the Swaminathan commission report.

The accused including BKU district president Ram Singh of Khurana, Sat Pal Dillonwali, Jia Lal and Jile Singh, The were booked under Sections 147, 149, 283 and 341of the IPC and Section 8 of the NH Act.
