Karnal, December 25

The government has offered land at seven sites to Maruti for setting up another plant in the state. These include locations in Gurugram, Karnal and Faridabad. The company’s management will decide which place is suitable for the purpose.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar gave this information on Tuesday in reply to a query regarding the state government’s offer of land to Maruti.

He was interacting with mediapersons after inaugurating Antyodaya Saral Kendras here. Responding to speculation about simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, he said they would not go in for this option next year.

“The idea of one-nation-one-election is good for the country, but a constitutional amendment is required. All parties will have to agree on it. It is not possible in 2019, but can be done in 2024. If the Union government or Election Commission of India says, we are ready for it,” he said.

On the issue of resentment among four MLAs, including one minister, he said it was not a big issue and no resentment prevailed among them.

On the status of Rohingya Muslims in the state, he said the Home Department knew their numbers and had been providing temporary facilities, but the future course of action would be taken by the Union government.

He said victory in elections to five municipal corporations had given a boost to the morale of party leaders and workers. He termed it as a victory of development work being done by the government.

He refuted the allegation of former Speaker Kuldeep Sharma that he had sought votes on the basis of caste in Karnal. He said he had never sought votes on the basis of caste, but some persons had raised the issue of caste in the elections.

“I am repeating my words that some persons had used the issue of caste in the election. I had said not to use caste in politics,” he asserted. He did not give a reply on fixation of state advisory price for sugarcane.
