CM announces 24x7 power supply in Gurugram district

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar declared the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) functional here on Monday. Anand Mohan Sharan, Principal Secretary, Urban Local Bodies, would head the authority set up to provide integrated and coordinated planning for infrastructure development.

He also announced 24X7 power supply to Gurugram district from today. As many as 1,140 villages in the state would get round the clock power supply, he added. The announcements were among many the Chief Minister made during a press conference on Independence Day.

“Several long pending issues of residents and also of vital importance to the state are being addressed. We don’t publicise much but our outcomes will speak,” said Khattar.

He added it was for the first time in Haryana’s history that an annual outlay of Rs 1.02 lakh crore was made. Earlier the expenses were more than the income of the state, accounting for 102 per cent, but now the expenses have reduced to 89.9 per cent.

Khattar said 550 doctors had been recruited and they would join duty soon. Those who wanted to serve without an advertisement would also be engaged, according to their qualifications.

“We need 27,000 doctors while we have 12,000 doctors. To generate more medically trained hands, we are opening medical colleges, including one in Gurugram,” he added.

Pitches for separate HC in present building

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said a separate High Court for Haryana should be established in the present building in 60 and 40 ratio. The ratio of judges should be 50:50 till the matter of Chandigarh is settled. “Haryana has more pending cases and I have written a letter to the Chief Justice of India for increasing the number of judges and setting up a separate bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in southern Haryana,” he added.—TNS
