A special investigation team (SIT) has arrested five persons in a murder case.

SP Surinder Pal Singh said the accused, Ravi, Gulshan, Mohit, Rahul and Anoop, were arrested by the SIT, headed by DSP Gurmail Singh, on Saturday evening.

The SP said Ankush, a resident of Amin village, near here, was allegedly attacked thrice by a group of youths on November 24. He sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to the PGI, Chandigarh, where he succumbed to his injuries on November 27.

The SP said the suspects were evading arrest for the last several days. He said they had received a tip-off about their whereabouts following which they were arrested.

Further investigations were on, the SP said.
