Sonepat, December 17
Two youths died after a car in which they were travelling was hit by a jeep near Rukhi village in the district on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Pious, a software engineer in a private company and Ishan, an official in the Excise Department. Both were from Rohtak and were posted in Chandigarh.
Pious and Ishan, along with their friends Gautam and Gaurav, were going to Chandigarh in the morning when a jeep coming from the wrong direction hit the car on the Rohtak-Gohana-Panipat NH. As a result, the car overturned, killing Pious and Ishan on the spot, and injuring Gautam and Gaurav.
On Gautam’s complaint, a case was registered against an unidentified jeep driver who allegedly sped away after the accident. — OC
