A day after Haryana Tribune highlighted alleged criminal activities being nurtured in Gurugram pubs and bars, the Gurugram police conducted raids on MG Road on Saturday midnight. 

Headed by ACP Karan Goel, police teams raided pubs and bars in MGF Mall and Sahara Mall on MG Road and found many flouting norms openly.

Following the raids by four special teams, the Gurugram police have recommended action against eight pubs to the Excise Department.

 According to senior officials, these pubs were found guilty of not maintaining records of patrons or checking their ID cards. Some suspicious people, including women, were detained and their credentials are being checked.

“There have been repeated complaints of pubs playing host to prostitution rackets which have now converted to robbery gangs. We conducted raids and found that in many pubs, the records of liquor and patrons were not being maintained. It is mandatory to check and record the ID proof of every entrant but in many cases, it was not being done. Women were being used to get people access to clubs. Many suspicious people were found there. We have written to the Excise Department to act. We will take a stern action,” said ACP Karan Goel.

Sources claimed that while many women were found inside and outside these clubs helping men gain stag entries. They were also not carrying any ID cards. Some underage patrons too with were reportedly caught drinking.

“We have regularly told them to follow security norms. Despite repeated warnings, norms were not being followed and we were getting complaints from residents about nuisance and illegal activities. So, we conducted raids. We will soon have a meeting with of all stakeholders and take action,” said Commissioner of Police Muhammad Akil.
