Yamunanagar, October 19

A couple from Kurukshetra district was booked for cheating three brothers on the pretext of getting them government jobs.

On the complaint of Neeraj of Kandrauli village of Radaur sub-division, Yamunanagar district, a case was registered against Ankit and his wife of Dhanaura Jattan village of Kurukshetra district under Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) at Radaur police station on Thursday.

Complainant Neeraj said that he knew Ankit, who claimed to know several high-profile politicians.

He alleged that the accused assured him that he could get government jobs for him and his two brothers Suraj and Jagdeep, but they would have to pay him Rs2 lakh per person for this work.

He alleged that he gave documents and Rs1.5 lakh cash to Ankit on February 16 at the shop of an arhtiya in Radaur grain market.

“Ankit and his wife took the money in instalments on different dates and duped us of Rs4.54 lakh in the name of getting us government jobs of clerk,” alleged the victim.

He alleged, “We were shown two appointment letters issued by the District Employment Officer, Kurukshetra, for his brothers. But he didn’t give them those appointment letters saying that those would be sent to them soon by post.”

He alleged that when the appointment letters didn’t reach their address for long, they went to the office of District Employment Officer, Kurukshetra, who told them that no such appointment letter had been issued by his office.

The complainant alleged when they demanded their money back, Ankit’s wife threatened that she would get a false case registered against them.
