School driver held for abusing 6-yr-old girl

AMBALA: The Ambala police arrested a man for allegedly sexually abusing a six-year-old minor girl on Thursday.

The Ambala police arrested a man for allegedly sexually abusing a six-year-old minor girl on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Satish. He was produced in a local court, which sent him to judicial custody.

As per information, the accused van driver was employed with the playway school at Parshuram Colony in Ambala City, where the victim studies. A few days ago, the driver allegedly took the girl to HUDA ground in Sector 8 and sexually abused her. The driver then dropped the victim at her house. The girl narrated the incident to her parents, who approached the school authorities and made a police complaint.

Sunita Dhaka, SHO, women police station, said, “A complaint was received on August 14 that a school van driver sexually abused a minor girl. On the complaint of minor’s mother, a case was registered under Section 506 of the IPC and 6 of the POCSO Act. The accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody. The matter is being investigated.”

To a query, she said, “It is yet to be verified that whether the school had got the police verification of the driver done or not.”

The Child Welfare Committee would do the counseling of the girl on Saturday.

Gurdev Singh Mander, member, CWC, said: “The matter has come to our notice and the counselling of the girl will be done tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, Paramjit Singh Badola, member, state Commission for Protection of Child Rights said: “I will personally look into the matter and strict action would be taken by the commission.”
