Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Tuesday said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and he would decide the course of action regarding the indefinite strike of MBBS students at the World College of Medical Science and Research here after discussing the issue with health and education officers.

Dushyant said this while interacting with mediapersons in Delhi. He said it was unfortunate that students were not being imparted proper education despite paying hefty fee.

“I met the agitating students in Jhajjar before the Assembly elections. They told me about their plight. It is a technical issue and the departments of health and education are involved. Those who have betrayed the students despite charging hefty fee will be punished as per rules,” he said.

The MBBS students were staging indefinite dharna in Jhajjar for the past two months. They sought permission for mercy killing from the President. They proceeded on indefinite fast twice during this time.

The protesters were demanding that their batch be shifted to another college in the state, alleging that their college had neither adequate doctors nor enough patients.

“We are confident that Dushyant will ensure justice as promised before the Assembly poll. He is Deputy Chief Minister and we are eagerly waiting for action from his side,” said a protesting student.

The college management refuted the charge, saying the students were playing into the hands of political rivals though all facilities required to run an MBBS course were available.
