Fit India Movement

The staff and students of the department of evening studies, Himachal Pradesh University, participated in the Prime Minister’s Fit India Movement by walking together and pledging to incorporate walking, exercise, sports and nutritious food in their daily routine. Prof Meenakshi F Paul, principal, administered the fitness pledge. Prof Arti Pandit Dhawan, Dr Ashutosh Kumar, Dr Sanjeet Sharma and Dr Sunil K Mankotia led the walk. Students doing undergraduate and postgraduate courses joined in the walk with great enthusiasm. The non-teaching staff also spread awareness.

Poster making at St Bede’s 

The Red Ribbon Club of St Bede’s College on Thursday organised poster-making and essay-writing competitions for the Youth Week on “Myths and Facts of HIV/AIDS”. The posters and essays were judged by Miss Nandini Pathania, principal, St Bede’s College. The competition’s aim was to create awareness among the college youth about the myths and facts of HIV/AIDS for better social handling of HIV/AIDS-affected individuals. Meanwhile, the NSS society of the college organised the live telecast of Fit India Movement in the auditorium.

Kids taught about bad touch

St Mary’s Convent School, Kasauli, organised an educational workshop on “Good Touch-Bad Touch and Child Safety”, which was conducted by Anita Sharma, project co-coordinator from the HPVHA in collaboration with CHILDLINE India Foundation. All students from classes I to VI actively participated in the workshop, where they were taught about their safe zones. Anita Sharma, with the help of a short movie “Komal”, explained the students how to identify bad touch. The children were also given instructions on how to respond to such situations. She also shared the helpline number 1098 which the children can dial to receive emergency help and guidance.

Students visit poultry farm

Students of the Government Degree College of Excellence, Sanjauli, visited the regional poultry farm, Kamlahi, along with their teachers from the zoology department Dr Meenakshi, Nidhi and Shivani Kaprate. The farm is under the Animal Husbandry Department. The veterinary officer posted at the farm, Dr Karan Sehgal, briefed the students about various poultry-related activities. 

Students apprised of House working

Students of the mass communication department of Himachal Pradesh University and ALS coaching centre, Panthaghati, visited the Vidhan Sabha on Thursday. They were apprised of the proceeding of the House by Speaker Rajeev Bindal. The students interacted with Agriculture Minister Ram Lal Markanda.
