Hamirpur, June 23

Athlete Sandeep Kumar of Hamirpur set a new state record in 100 m sprint in Himachal Olympic Games here today by coving the distance in 10.4 seconds bettering the earlier record of 10.8 seconds and grabbed the first gold medal for the district in the tournament. Bhanu Prakash of Sirmour bagged silver (10:8 seconds) and Paras of Kangra won bronze (11.1).

In the long jump, Dimed of Sirmour won gold (6.09 m), Suresh won silver (6.00) and Vikash of Hamirpur won bronze (5.92). Among women in shot put Kritika and Shilpa of Hamirpur won gold and silver, respectively, while Sunita of Mandi won bronze.

In 400 m race Kritika (Bilaspur) won gold (1:01 m), Sonia (Kangra) won silver (1:02) and Deepshikha (Hamirpur) won bronze (1:05).

In weight lifting women in 48 kg weight, Manisha Kumari (Kangra) won gold, Swati (Mandi) won silver and Preeti Rana (Una) won bronze. In the 53 kg category, Shabbi Chauhan (Kangra) won gold, Sonia Devi (Chamba) won silver and Vandna Rani (Una) won bronze.

Hockey (men): Hamirpur beat Bilaspur 6-0, Una beat Mandi 1-0. Women: Hamirpur beat Shimla 3-0, Mandi beat Kangra 3-2. Hamirpur beat Kangra 2-0 (second round).

Basketball (men): Hamirpur beat Shimla 85-56. Women: Chamba beat Hamirpur 50-38. Vollyball (men): Bilaspur beat Una 3-0, Mandi beat Kangra 3-0. Women Kangra beat Shimla 3-2.
