Municipal waste finds way into Swan river

The Una Municipal Committee disposes of waste collected from 11 wards at Rampur village near the Swan river. The garbage is put on fire after a few days. When wind blows, polybags find entry into the river. Dumping of garbage in the open and burning of municipal waste are banned, still one can see burning bins at every nook and corner. The Rampur dumping ground has turned into a breeding ground for mosquitoes. It is polluting the river and degrading environment. —Raj Kumar Pathania, Una
