Actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar addressed a Congress rally in support of party candidate Dhani Ram Shandil at Theog on Tuesday. Senior party leader Anand Sharma, former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee chief Kuldeep Rathore were also present.

Addressing a gathering, Babbar lashed out at the BJP regime for its alleged failure to fulfill promises made during the 2014 General Elections.

“Rather than replying to the unfulfilled promises he had made in 2014, PM Narendra Modi is trying to divert the attention of the people from core issues,” alleged Babbar.

He urged the voters to support the Congress so as to defeat communal forces such as the BJP that were indulging in divisive politics.

The senior party leaders present on the occasion also sought answers from Modi on the unfulfilled promises of generating two crore jobs every year, bringing back blackmoney and adverse impact of demonetisation and the GST.

Earlier, party vice-president Priyanka Gandhi was to address a rally and hold a roadshow at Theog. With the Special Protection Group not giving the nod for the venue, the programme had to be cancelled. However, the top brass of the party still held a rally to garner support for their candidate Dhani Ram Shandil.
