2 Pak intruders shot dead, 3 soldiers killed on LoC

JAMMU: The Army on Sunday shot dead two intruders while three of its soldiers were killed in a gunfight in Sunderbani sector on the Line of Control (LoC).

The Army on Sunday shot dead two intruders while three of its soldiers were killed in a gunfight in Sunderbani sector on the Line of Control (LoC).

A defence PRO said At about 1.45 pm, Army had a fierce encounter with heavily-armed Pakistani intruders very close to the Line of Control in Sunderbani Sector. The intruders had come inside the Indian territory.

All three slain soldiers hailed from the state. They have been identified as Kaushal Kumar, a resident of Deeng village, Nowshera; Ranjeet Singh of Gam village in Doda; and Rajat Kumar Basan, a resident of Pallanwala.

"The patrol killed two intruders and recovered warlike stores, including two AK-47 rifles. Immediate reaction from other posts effectively cordoned the area and the search and destroy operation is in progress. Three own soldiers attained martyrdom while fighting the intruders and  one soldier suffered grevious injuries and has been air evacuated to Army Command hospital, Udhampur and is reported to be stable," he said.

The operation is in progress.
