Additional Director General of Police, Security, Law and Order, Muneer Khan reviewed the security arrangements for the Amarnath yatra on Thursday and asked the men and officers not to go slow in their vigil as the challenges remained undiminished.

He visited Kathua and Samba districts and also Yatri Bhavan at Bhagwati Nagar, where from the pilgrims leave every morning for the cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas.

“There should be no let-up in the vigil. There is no room for any complacency at this stage as challenges continue to stare at us. The smooth and incident-free yatra should not lull anyone into complacency,” he told officers and men of the force on Thursday.

The ADGP also reviewed the security at various points through which the yatra passes in the Jammu region. He will be holding a similar review in the Kashmir division.

During his visits to Samba and Kathua, he also focused on the threats emanating from across the border, including attempts being made by terrorists to infiltrate into this side of the international border from Pakistan and drug smuggling. He asked the officers to be vigilant and not let their guard down whether on the border or in the hinterland.

“The J&K Police is a unique force that has fought terrorism and infiltration and maintained internal security. We not only have to maintain our reputation but also enhance it,” Khan said. He also stressed the people-friendly approach of the police.
