Kashmir getting preference in jobs, says Bar association

The Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu, today appealed to Governor NN to ensure equal share for educated unemployed of Jammu in the service sector, especially in the positions filled by the J&K Public Service Commission (JKPSC).

In a press conference, BS Salathia, president, J&K High Court Bar Association, said youth of Jammu were seething with anger over the preferential treatment being accorded to Kashmiri youth by the JKPSC which was a matter of grave concern.

“The position now has reached such a point that Kashmir is grabbing almost 80 to 90 per cent positions and the Jammu youth have been left high and dry,” Salathia said.

“We know of Jammu youth who migrated in search of jobs after they were denied justice by the recruitment agencies,” he added.

He expressed shock and surprise over the J&K BJP’s statement that the certain positions in the Government Medical College had been occupied by the members of the majority community. Salathia added that in a democratic and secular polity, exclusion of the minority community could not be justified.

The Bar association asked the Jammu-based political leadership to come forward and fight against this injustice.

Saying the patience of people was being tested, he appealed to the people of Jammu province to stand up for their legitimate due share in the state’s political and economic processes.
