After the CRPF Inspector General expressed concern to the Election Commission of India team in the Valley recently, the J&K Police have been asked to identify safe accommodation for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) men deployed in Kashmir ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The Election Commission team was in Kashmir last week to take stock of the situation ahead of the elections.

The written communication has been sent by the nodal officer for elections to the J&K Police, asking them to identify safe accommodation for the paramilitary men.

The written communication to the top police brass in Kashmir read: “In the backdrop of the induction of a large number of CAPF companies for the general election, the IG, CRPF, has expressed concern during his interaction with the Election Commission of India on March 4 and 5 regarding the accommodation and other facilities for the CAPF companies.”

“You (the police) may please identify suitable places for accommodating the CAPF companies, including arrangements for the allied facilities required for them, and accordingly furnish a detailed plan to the police headquarters,” it read.

The Centre recently deployed additional 10,000 paramilitary men in the Valley to strengthen the security ahead of the elections.
