Jammu, June 24

Hitting out at BJP national president Amit Shah for his statement of taking back support from the PDP-led coalition government for Jammu’s interest, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president GA Mir claimed that Shah had come to Jammu to count his failures and prepare ground for 2019 elections.

“Shah, who is heading such a big party, saying that Mehbooba Mufti didn’t allow them to work for Jammu doesn’t get digested,” Mir said.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Mir criticised the BJP for “putting the entire blame” on the PDP for their failure to deliver on the ground.

“Shah’s address on Saturday was a confessional statement of the BJP of its failure on all fronts. However, they have set a tone for their election agenda for 2019 to do everything possible to polarise and communalise the situation in the state and hide their failures behind slogans of nationalism and patriotism,” he said.

“All failures which he counted were the failures and betrayals of the BJP with their electorate of the Jammu region whom they exploited with various emotional slogans in 2014,” he said.

On asked whether both the BJP and the PDP are playing a fixed match, Mir said, “Whatever is behind the curtains will come to the fore in near future. I am not ruling out anything as both the PDP and the BJP are interested that the House shouldn’t be dissolved. All mainstream opposition parties have presented their stand to the Governor and it is up to him to decide.”
