Back from Oz 3 days ago, youth commits suicide

Barely three days after returning from Australia, a 25-year-old youth residing at Ambedkar Nagar near Basti Bawa Khel here today committed suicide.

The deceased, Abhishek Salhan, today committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan.

Sub Inspector Amandeep Singh of the Basti Bawa Khel police station said the youth’s parents had already passed away.

“He is said to have been under depression,” the Sub Inspector said

He added that there was no clue to what really transpired.

The police have taken his sister’s statement, who is married and stays in the city. Inquest proceedings have been initiated under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
