The Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) state president Bhagwant Mann today accused political parties of selling tickets for Rs 10 lakh each to candidates for the MC polls.

While holding nukkar sabhas at over six places in the city, he asked people as to how a candidate, who had paid Rs 10 lakh, would ensure development in his area. “He will first try to get his money back with hefty interest and later people will sit quietly and wait for the next elections to change him with some other party candidate,” said Mann.

He further added that while other countries are planning to develop colonies on moon, the people in Punjab are still waiting in lines to get a lid issued for the main holes in their areas. “It is over 70 years since we gained independence and a safe drinking water is still a dream for us,” said Mann while addressing the gathering in ward number 62.

Also slamming the Congress, Mann said that Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh hadn’t fulfilled even a single promise made during the elections.

“Has your Chief Minister provided you a job and a mobile phone? Has he managed to stop farmers’ suicide in the state? This is the time to select a watchman for your ward who would be taking care of your health, cleanliness and safe drinking water for you and your family,” said Mann adding that nothing has changed since the Congress government took over in the state.

Meanwhile, AAP leaders claimed that the party would come up with a good show in the MC polls.

Ironically, Mann, who held over 16 rallies on a single day during the Assembly elections in the state, could not gather much crowd in any of the ‘nukkar sabhas’.
