BJP gears up for celebrations

JALANDHAR: The city is all set to host the fourth International Day of Yoga at the Company Bagh here on Thursday.

The city is all set to host the fourth International Day of Yoga at the Company Bagh here on Thursday.

The Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Vijay Sampla, along with other activists and leaders of the BJP including Manoranjan Kalia, KD Bhandari will be attending the function.

Acharya of Divya Jyoti Ashram, Noormahal will be present and conducting the yoga practice session in morning between 6 am to 7 am.

He would also be generating awareness about significance of yoga and the International Yoga Day to the participants, said Ramesh Sharma, president of the BJP (Jalandhar Urban).

He also said, “All the eminent BJP personalities and activists would be present and will be doing Yoga to mark the fourth International Yoga Day.”

District administration is making all the necessary arrangements to celebrate the International Yoga Day at the Police Lines here.

Moreover, a daily session of yoga is already in practice at the Police lines for the last many days to generate awareness and make police officials aware of the benefits of performing daily yoga asans, informed officials at the administration.

DAV College holds rehearsals to gear up for tomorrow’s event

150 cadets of NCC Unit of the DAV College gathered in the campus on Wednesday for rehearsals of Yoga and performed various asans.

A function will be held tomorrow at the premises of DAV College in this regard, according to the protocols of the Ayush Mantralaya. For this purpose, only a practice session was organised by the NCC and NSS unit of College, informed Principal Dr SK Arora.

Yoga instructor Jai Mittal from the yoga path institute will be teaching various yoga asans to college students and group staff.

Yoga a key to healthy and fit life: SSP

Jalandhar: As the entire world gears up for practising yoga on the International Yoga Day, the senior officials in Jalandhar too are following the suit.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jalandhar, said, “This ancient practise was also the key of health and fitness,” who practices yoga daily.

The SSP has been practicing yoga since long as a part of his daily routine despite hectic schedule. He practises yoga under an expert trainer.

The SSP said yoga had multiple health benefits that include improving flexibility, building muscle strength, improving bone health, protecting spine and increasing blood flow.

It also boosts immunity, improves heart rate, drops blood pressure, improves balance and boosts the immunity system. He said the regular practice of yoga helped in ensuring that body remains fit and stress free.
