Int’l Cerebral Palsy Day

Jalandhar: The Department of Physiotherapy of Lyallpur Khalsa College organised an event to observe International Cerebral Palsy Day here on Wednesday.



Jalandhar: The Department of Physiotherapy of Lyallpur Khalsa College organised an event to observe International Cerebral Palsy Day here on Wednesday. Vivek Joshi, who is tackling cerebral palsy for years, was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr Raju Sharma, head of the Department of Physiotherapy, said the physiotherapy OPD was set up by the department 18 years ago. He highlighted various symptoms and ramifications of cerebral palsy in early years of a child, which further severely hinders the growth process. Vivek Joshi also shared his struggles and the obstacles that he has seen while getting higher education. His struggle motivated him to provide free education to 50 needy students. On the occasion, around 25 children battling cerebral palsy were also invited on the stage. They showcased their talents. Students of the department presented various colourful items. College principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra honoured the guests and children who graced the event. 

Overall trophy for KNCW 

Students of the Kamla Nehru College for Women (KNCW), Phagwara, bagged the overall trophy of the D-Zone Zonal Youth Festival. The four-day festival organised by the Youth Welfare Department of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) concluded recently on the university campus. As many as 32 items of music, theatre, dance, literary and fine arts were held during the festival. As many as 16 colleges of Kapurthala and Nawanshahr districts participated in the festival. The teams that stood first and second in the competition will get a chance to participate in the inter-zonal youth festival to be held at the GNDU, Amritsar.
