MP takes stock of preparations for Modi’s Gurdaspur rally

HOSHIARPUR: In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, demanding more seats for the BJP could be the personal choice of anybody but the party’s parliamentary board will decide how many seats would be contested in the state.

Hoshiarpur, December 27

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, demanding more seats for the BJP could be the personal choice of anybody but the party’s parliamentary board will decide how many seats would be contested in the state. State BJP president and MP Shwet Malik said this while addressing a press conference here this evening.

He was replying to a query regarding BJP Punjab secretary and co-in-charge of Lok Sabha Subhash Sharma’s recent statement in which he had said the BJP would contest five seats in the state this time against the three. Former Minister Tikshan Sood, Punjab BJP general secretary Rakesh Rathore and secretary Jagtar Singh Saini were also present.

Malik came here today to take stock of preparations for the Prime Minister’s ‘Thanksgiving Rally’ to be held in Gurdaspur on January 3.

Responding to questions, Malik said during the Modi government’s regime at the Centre, farmers had been getting a good MSP and the government was going to build the historic Kartarpur corridor while the Congress was doing politics on the same for 70 years. Besides, due to the rapid action taken by the Modi government, three accused of the 1984 riots had been punished while others will also get punished soon.

He said what is the message given to people by the Congress by giving the post of the MP Chief Minister to Kamal Nath, who was also involved in the 1984 massacre. He claimed that in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, BJP-SAD alliance candidates would win on 13 of the 13 seats of the state.

He said that due to the wrong policies of the Captain government in the state, people of the state had started feeling duped.— OC
