Orders to release photo of speech, hearing impaired Pak boy

HOSHIARPUR: The efforts of the BJP vice-president and deputy chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society Avinash Rai Khanna have finally made way for the identification of the speech and hearing impaired Pakistani boy who had mistakenly entered India from the border with Pakistan five years ago.

The efforts of the BJP vice-president and deputy chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society Avinash Rai Khanna have finally made way for the identification of the speech and hearing impaired Pakistani boy who had mistakenly entered India from the border with Pakistan five years ago.

Following Khanna's efforts, the Juvenile Justice Board, Gurdaspur, has allowed permission to release his photograph to confirm his identity. Khanna, addressing a press conference here today, said he had read about the helplessness of the boy in media reports. After that, he reached the Juvenile home to meet him and received information about the case against him from the officials concerned. He wrote to the superintendent of the Juvenile Home, asking him for the photograph of the boy so that the Pakistani authorities could be contacted to ascertain his identity. The application was sent to the Juvenile Justice Board, Gurdaspur by the Superintendent. Khanna said the Juvenile Justice Board, Gurdaspur, considering the application had ordered to issue photograph of the boy.

Khanna also said that the case would be raised by the Indian Red Cross Society and with the help of the government of Pakistan and International Red Cross, the photographs of the boy will be released and published in the border areas of Pakistan so that this boy could be identified. Khanna said the boy could not read and write and because of this, he could not be identified till date.
